The 2014 Arctic Winter Games in Fairbanks, AK are officially underway! Competition and good sportsmanship are in ample supply at venues located throughout Fairbanks.

The Arctic Winter Games is a high-profile sports competition for Northern and Arctic athletes.  The Games provide over 2000 young men and women competing in 21 different sports an opportunity to test their skill against an international contingent of athletes from 8 different regions, territories, and states.  The Games also serve to strengthen sportsmanship, friendly competition & cooperation and provide an opportunity to build global partnerships between the various contingent communities.  The Games were first held in 1970 in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories and are held in March of even numbered years.  The next Arctic Winter Games will be held at Nuuk, Greenland in 2016 (https://www.facebook.com/awg2016).
